My first experience with a guitar was at about 5 years of age. I "rocked out" to some Glen Campbell and got some laughs out of my parents with a little guitar that my grandma bought me! For the longest time I just couldn't get enough Rhinestone Cowboy!
As I entered my teenage years I took a bit more interest in guitar so I saved up my pennies and bought an OLD Univox electric for a hundred bucks. That really got me going! To have an electric guitar instead of a lame OLD box guitar was like heaven. That Christmas I got my first distortion pedal and that was it! I think it was called the Metal Master or something. The sound that came out of the speakers could only be described as razor blades assaulting anyones eardrums who dared enter my bedroom!
My interest kinda peeked for the next five to six years as I took a liking to other kid stuff. As I entered my very late teens I was given this cassette tape by my brother’s friend. The album was Joe Satriani - Flying In a Blue Dream! Instantly I was in total shock and awe! That immediately made me trade in the crappy Hondo Randy Rhodes flying V for an Ibanez RG 450.
I would practice my lead playing as much as time would allow learning everything I could and getting my dexterity up to par.
I realized that I started serious guitar playing much later than most guys, so I really had to practice my ass off if I wanted a position in a band. All that practice paid off as I can proudly say that Rub Salt has opened for the likes of Kim Mitchell, Glass Tiger and Sass Jordan in front of tens of thousands of people! Not to mention lots of other memories I’ve had good and bad!
I'd like to thank everyone for supporting me all these years, most of all my parents for putting up with all that noise. Look forward to seeing you at the show! Check back for the latest updates!
